Re: PC-BSD

Since I made this promotion post I think it is proper that I give some warning to people thinking of making it dual boot with Windows 7. First you should consider the installer to have an ideology that it will destroy everything unless you figure out a way to stop it. The following things are critic...

PC-BSD

http://www.pcbsd.org/

Quite interesting option. It is practically FreeBSD, but with user friendly graphical installer that installs X Windowing, desktop and a lot of the stuff majority of users would install right from the start. I'm installing it right now on VirtuaBox to see what it is.

Are you using the Himalia ET Launcher? I'm curious if it can be stated to be tested and working on Windows 8.1.

Re: Microsoft following the Google path

I wouldn't call my issues being ideological though. Ubuntu is not a bad choice in my opinion. It seems very modern for a Linux. But I would rather go with some BSD (other then OS X from Apple) just to avoid the fragmentation and religious parts of the "ideology".

Re: Microsoft following the Google path

Yes, those browser additions are among the worst bloats that sometimes come from shareware programs. I suppose that is one way to make money when there's no real sales.

Disabling this feature should be possible even after installation. But I don't have Windows 8.1 so I can't check it.

Microsoft following the Google path

Apparently, In Windows 8.1 there is a feature that snoops what you do in your own computer and sends this information to the Bing search engine online. Then this information is used to bring you better advertisements. I.e. your private information (any profiling of the person is private by law) is c...

Re: new computer

The followin will be most usefull. - All maps from etmain folder, will get you play them quicker if you wish. But the maps are also downloaded automatically, so in order to clean up the installation every once in a while, maybe not. - From silent folder the "silent.dat". This is the only n...

Re: Himalia Enemy Territory Launcher

Today, suddenly my Norton decided to remove the etlauncher.dll from my computer. Because it may have happened to others, I'll be making this post. Here are the new VirusTotal results of this file: https://www.virustotal.com/fi/file/e6ebfa5779587abf2fa3252b7ea75fd6e2220b72e2907746abb736e5d09377c2/ana...

I just hope they will do it better then Nokia with great interest put into quality. Easy way to repor...

Re: Nokia phone business has sold to Microsoft

Fixed the topic post for you. On the topic, maybe this was the only way to get rid of failed phones and Elop. I never really understood why they decided that they will never be doing anything but Windows phones anymore, in the beginning. Year before they had even one phone to show to anyone. Who kno...

Re: SW or simple mapvoting

So the poll ended to the win for the stopwatch. Even if we will weight the votes based on the activity. That is what we will use then, because the whole point of the poll was to set up the server the way our real players like it. If there is a need for another server with different settings, I'm wil...

SW or simple mapvoting

Polling what do regulars prefer. Only people who bother to vote here count in the decisions.

Poll time, 4 days.

Re: Server to stopwatch

Intermission map voting is buggy, but the maps can be voted during the game too. As long as you have at least regular level.
