Server
Server
I havent found the server on the list for probably 2 weeks now.. has something changed?
Re: Server
The server is no longer in the 2.60 master list. This is because the server binary is changed to support all the clients. But on the other hand, the server now has a own menu that gets loaded when you play. However, some servers use a name for the file that will be executed by the engine later so you may not see the Himalia menu at all.
If you want to use the himalia menu, you can delete all the other menus from the etmain folder. The menu's are generally named with ~ or with some other weird looking letter. Some may even use the letter z for it. The idea is that the more bottom the character is in the ASCII table, the later it will be read by the ET engine and so, the last one read will overcome all other menus. I know this is kind of bad system when all the servers use their custom menus.
Anyway, I recommend cleaning all unnecessary files from the etmain folder because it will also decrease the loading times and may even give slightly better performance in game.

Re: Server
Sorry Akilles, I didn't realise you haven't been on the server for a while :P
Yes, the /connect command in console will work and after that, you should have a Himalia menu that has a quick connect button.
/connect 81.22.249.50:27960
or by DNS name, yes the ET does know how to resolve DNS names
/connect himalia.game-server.cc:27960
You can use the port numbers if you want, but since the SIKY server is in the default port, those are not needed. Just so you understand the command fully
Also, the server can be found from the splatterladder site, that displays all the servers regardless of the protocol number they use. It is mentioned though, that Himalia uses 2.55 protocol, but also the system line states it is ET, which it says when the modified server binary is used.
The modified server binary is the one made by equalone and here is his website http://equalone.hn.vc/index.php?index=0
The binary is largely used on the ET server for the plain reason that it allows all the clients to connect and play on the server, regardless of their version. However, it is of course advisable to patch the client to the latest. The latest ET version uses less CPU, lags less and has numerous fixes.
