new computer

Post by mk13.se »

OK, I'm retiring my 8 year old lagtop for a new computer. Wich files do I need to transfer to the new install of ET? Is it enough to just copy the .cfg or is there any other files I need to transfer?

The followin will be most usefull.

- All maps from etmain folder, will get you play them quicker if you wish. But the maps are also downloaded automatically, so in order to clean up the installation every once in a while, maybe not.
- From silent folder the "silent.dat". This is the only needed file on our server to keep your old data linked to you.
- If you want to use the PB GUID, i.e. keep old XP on other servers+mods, then you need the "etkey" file from the etmain folder. Also, on some Windows versions, there is etkey file in the AppData folder. Example from my Windows 7 "C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\PunkBuster\ET\pb". I replaced my username with ****.

* Note that PB dropped support for ET, so if you need it, you should visit http://www.etkey.org. Do note that while you can have etkey in your AppData folder, if I remember correctly, the one in the etmain folder will be used if it is existing.

* Note2, On our server you don't need PB.

Please someone add if I didn't get all.
