That ain't true.

heard of "exageration"
Re: Brink, has anyone played it?
I don't think the same. For few reasons. SD has always worked with OpenGL games as far as I know. The OpenGL is in many ways better then DirectX while DirectX has nothing over OpenGL. OpenGL is faster and easier, supports more platforms and is capable bringing all the advantages of the graphics card regardless of the OS. While, with DirectX, you have to not only write engine differently for consoles, but also between the Windows versions. And not only that, with DirectX there is no way to provide the best graphics the cards can offer for example to Windows XP. Because the DirectX versions 10 and 11 can't be installed on XP.I realy think going back to open_gl instead of Directx, is someway weird.
Microsoft has tried to put down OpenGL in favour to their DirectX many times in the past, and again with the releases of Vista and Win7. However, it has never succeeded in it. I don't think it will either because after that, everyone would be playing games only on specific Windowses. In other words, for DirectX to become victorious over OpenGL (do note that the Microsoft has been in war against OpenGL from the 90's), it would require that the development of OpenGL would stop. Unlikely to happen.

Yeah you did, puolakanaho wrote:heard of "exageration"
Trust me not all of the game is bad, i think it has potential to become a good game. But gamers have to support there teammates. So a different way of playing is needed, than only whore xp. And backup your teammates gives more xp than fragging for kills.
I played the multiplayer last nigh, and it looks cool.
The only weird things that stay is the up and down of the fps, 52 to 92, seams a lot to me.
I also dont like the hughe bobbing of the gun if you walk.
But don't get me wrong on Brink, its not a failer or a bad game.
I seriously start to think to rent a 16 slot server for it, it cost around 20 euro.
But i don't want to do that alone.
I also think you don't need a high end pc to play it.
If Himalia allows me, i can provide some more screenshots of the game.

Re: Brink, has anyone played it?
Some ingame screenshots of the multiplayer.
There is a differance in quality between the 2 fractions you can play.
The resistance maps are mostly red, due to the rusty containers.
The Security fractions maps are inside the Ark, and mostly gray, and that quality is better.
I hope i don't spam here to much about Brink, and the screenshots.
The game has some issues, and also Steam have, but it isnt abad game, go buy it.
Note: that the screenshots are resized 50%, there also converted from .bmp to .jpg what lowers the quality.
Note: See the differance in fps messured by Fraps in the upper right corner in yellow.

Nothing wrong in spamming about BRINK in here.

It runs verry smooth for me.puolakanaho wrote:second thing i was worried when i watched gameplay trailer yesturday was that the gameplay didnt look so smooth...rather sticky...
The only thing i don't understand is that the framerates go up and down from 40 to 90, but it don't effect the gameplay. You can see it in the screenshots.
I also made a ingame video of a few seconds, and that runs also not smooth in replay. I had 67 fps in Fraps, the moment i recorded it it dropped to 34 fps, so that maybe caused this.
What kind of pc do you have?

Re: Brink, has anyone played it?
The walking speed is a bit slower, but many other games have that also.
Minimum pc specs:
Win xp, sp 3
2 Gb ramm
Dualcore 2,4 GHz
Nvidia 8800GS/Ati Radion Hd2900pro
8 GB free disk space
So this looks like a pc of 3 or 4 years old, so i think many can play Brink.
Go buy it its a good play, its the first multiplayer after ET that has the same style of objective play, build things, blow up things.
Classes:
Medic, can heal, revive, and can boost health of players for a short time
Soldier, who can blow things with some sort of C4 with a timer, can give ammo
Covertops, can hack things, can spot mines.
Engeneer, can repair, build or make upgrades, can build mg drones

Re: Brink, has anyone played it?
Brink still has it's problems and therefore I can only say, buy it with your own risk. However, this is the first good user made video of the game I have seen.
